Drainage is a key element of track maintenance but can invariably be a difficult issue to tackle. The Drain Train offers a practical and effective solution to trackside drain maintenance on the rail network.
The Drain Train consists of a high-powered drain-jetting and vacuum system, capable of collecting both wet and semi-dry materials, such as ballast, bricks, silt and compacted sewage.
The power unit is able to simultaneously produce:
• 225 ltr/min of water for the jetting hose, sufficient to flush pipes up to 450mm in diameter
• 105m³/min of air for the suction arm, sufficient to remove silt or debris arising at catchpits, such ballast and bricks
After monitoring the collected waste for contamination, it is discharged at the stabling site by an onboard slewing conveyor, preventing spillage on the track.
