Balfour Beatty, the international engineering, construction and services group announces today that its Rail Power Systems business in Germany has been awarded a Euro 31 million contract in consortium with Nuon, a Dutch utility company for the traction power supply and auxiliary power supply for the Betuweroute’s new freight railway line linking Rotterdam harbour to the German border. Commenting on the contract award, Jim Cohen, Balfour Beatty Group Managing Director said: “This announcement follows a similar award from Irish Rail recently and demonstrates the breadth of Rail Power Systems capabilities and clients’ confidence in new equipment which has been developed by the company. We have had previous experience working with ProRail’s project organization Betuweroute to run a 25kV pilot project in the Netherlands on the Harbour Line and we are delighted to continue the relationship.”
