Balfour Beatty Rail Projects, the leading international rail project management, design and construction business of Balfour Beatty plc, has been awarded the £1.4 million railway contract to provide new signalling equipment on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), London.
The contract, awarded by Mowlem Railways, will be carried out by Balfour Beatty Rail Signalling. It involves the design, installation, testing and commissioning of signalling equipment at the network’s Beckton Depot in East London.
Simon Stockwell, General Manager Balfour Beatty Rail Signalling, said: “Balfour Beatty Rail Projects has been awarded a number of significant signalling contracts recently. This project on the DLR will enable us to demonstrate our skills to another new client.”
The contract, to be carried out on sidings and a level crossing, involves the provision of trackside equipment, 11 signals and ten trailable points with points heating, together with the provision of an additional Programmable Logic Controller.
The contract is set to complete in September 2006.
