BALFOUR BEATTY RAIL PROJECTS
CELEBRATES A DECADE “ON THE UP”
Balfour Beatty Rail Projects (BBRP), the leading international rail engineering, design and construction business of Balfour Beatty plc, celebrates its tenth year of business this week.
The anniversary also commemorates a decade located at its headquarters at Midland House on Nelson Street, close to Derby railway station.
The roots of Balfour Beatty’s railway business are steeped in history stretching back over 100 years. In 1997, Balfour Beatty merged its long established rail power and electrification, trackwork and signalling operations to form Balfour Beatty Rail Projects.
During its first ten years, the company has carried out numerous multi-million pound railway contracts for various clients in the UK including work on the West Coast Main Line, East Coast Main Line, Leeds Station, Channel Tunnel Rail Link and the extensions to Heathrow’s new Terminal 5, together with several projects on the London Underground network.
As well as projects closer to home, a decade of business has also seen the company complete an array of successful rail projects around the globe including China, Hong Kong, Chile, Singapore and the USA.
Keith Hampson, Interim Managing Director, Balfour Beatty Rail Projects, said: “We are proud to be celebrating this important anniversary which recognises the tremendous achievement of all our employees. Over the last ten years, Balfour Beatty Rail Projects has demonstrated its enviable capabilities to deliver many complex projects around the world and we are very much looking forward to the future with confidence.”
