Balfour Beatty Rail Plant Awarded Stoneblower Contract by Network Rail
Balfour Beatty Rail Plant has been awarded the operation and servicing contract for the Network Rail owned Stoneblowers in Kent, Sussex, Wessex, West Anglia and Great Eastern.

The contract is worth approximately £3.6 million for an initial two year period, commencing in June 2006. There are options within the contract to extend in yearly increments up to a maximum of five years.

Network Rail will be introducing three new dual-purpose plain line/S&C Stoneblowers from Summer 2006 which will initially be used in plain-line mode. It is likely that Balfour Beatty Rail Plant will be operating two S&C machines later in the year, one in Kent and the other in Great Eastern.

These contracts, which have been secured through a competitive tendering exercise, will contribute to the successful future of Balfour Beatty Rail Plant. Work will commence immediately on mobilising for the new contract to ensure a premier service is delivered to Network Rail from the outset.
