Hop Garden Bridge, near Worplesdon in the Wessex region, required the XiTRACK© ballast stabilisation treatment of both transitions on a directly fastened bridge. The process involved applying geocomposite technology to reinforce the ballast with polymer in a designed and controlled way to reduce the long-standing alignment problems at this site.
XiTRACK© treatment provided significantly enhanced vertical stability to the track with a subsequent reduction in corrective maintenance. The design for the site specifically allowed for conventional access to the ballast should any future work be needed. Detailed surveying was carried out so that the performance of the track can be monitored.
