Balfour Beatty Rail Technologies Limited provided Union Railways South with its Rail Asset Management System (RAMS) for use on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.
RAMS is a software system for managing rail defects which was originally developed to address the specifications of Network Rail's RT/CE/S/057 Standard and to give end users extensive defect reporting and analysis functionality. It has also recently been expanded to include weld data and a direct interface to Network Rail's business systems.
RAMS was configured specifically for URS engineering standards and is now being used by URS and its maintenance contractor to provide planned, preventative maintenance ensuring continuity of safety and operation on this new railway.
