Balfour Beatty Rail Plant has supplied two wiring trains to Balfour Beatty Rail Germany in support of its contract for the electrification of the Rawang to Ipoh main line project in Malaysia.
The project involves the upgrade of the existing railway line. It includes conversion of a single track line to a double track line, installation of an electrification system and new signalling on a 180km stretch of railway, running from Rawang on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh in the north.
Each wiring train consist has a 28-tonne diesel locomotive, a double tensioner unit, four cable drum stands, two 24 tonne/metre cranes, a works platform and a two-man lift basket. |
