The order included 17 units of Voltage Controlled Rectifiers for Line 3. Voltage Controlled Rectifier (VCR) is a unique product developed by the Swedish company and reduces the losses in the DC traction system. The use of the VCR also makes it possible to recover and regenerate braking power to the feeding AC network.
The length of the third line is approximately 19 km and has 18 passenger stations. Balfour Beatty Rail AB has previously delivered the same type of equipment to Line 2 (31 km) in 1995 at a value of: 7,3 MEUR (27 units) and to Line 1 (32,5 km) in 1984 at a value of: 6 MEUR (22 units).
