Balfour Beatty Rail, acting as the Consortium leader, was awarded the electrification of the first high speed line 25 kV AC (250 km/h), which runs from Athens to Thessaloniki.
Balfour Beatty Rail’s scope of work included:
- 658 km overhead contact line s.t.
- 10 substations 150/27,5 kV – 15 MVA
- 24 sectioning points
- 32 railway station installations for 25 kV AC
- 2 SCADA Control Centres
