Balfour Beatty Rail AB, the Swedish subsidiary of the Balfour Beatty Rail Group, is located in Västerås, Sweden and employs approximately 110 persons. Our history and experience goes back to the beginning of the last century and the involvement in the first railway electrification in Sweden.
Our expertise includes overhead and third rail electrification, power supply systems, trackwork, signalling works and infrastructure maintenance for main line, metro and light rail systems. We also possess the skill to carry out complex contracts - either single or multi-disciplinary projects, on new lines or on the upgrade and refurbishment of existing ones and our experience in forming partnerships have enabled us to ensure the certainty of programme, schedule, quality and cost.

Business Scope
Railway electrification is our core business and we are presently taking on new business areas in order to become a complete partner for railway related infrastructure solutions with a full service commitment.

In February 2006 Balfour Beatty Rail acquired the Nordic signalling operations of SAAB Communication, thus broadening our multi-disciplinary capabilities in the railway market.
