Balfour Beatty Rail SpA is the Italian engineering and construction company of the Balfour Beatty Rail Group.
The Company has a long standing experience, over 80 years, in the field of the design and installation of railway electrification and power supply systems internationally, in both direct and alternating current.
Our expertise covers the design and building of turnkey infrastructure projects, starting from the feasibility studies to the engineering activities to the complete installation: renewal and upgrading of existing railway lines, design and construction of new systems, in main line, mass transit and light rail, including high speed systems.

We have approximately 300 employees located in Italy and in our two branches in Portugal and Greece.

Business Scope
Balfour Beatty Rail SpA specialises in the design, management, installation and commissioning of turnkey railway electrification systems.
We are actively involved in:
- Construction of new overhead contact lines for main line, renewal and upgrading of existing ones
- Delivery of complete urban transport systems, including the construction of the contact line and the mass transit network for HV, MV and LV electrical systems
- Delivery of integrated projects, including the supply and construction of railway substations, AC and DC, high voltage transmission lines, both overhead and underground, and the EM fix installations for railway stations.
