The Austrian division of Balfour Beatty Rail is principally involved in the home market.
Our activities focus on overhead contact line construction and fixed installations work. These include the design, erection, repair and maintenance of electronic and electrical equipment for the transformation, distribution and use of electric energy for the power of rail vehicles (overhead contact line, construction of rail power installations). We also offer consultation services.
Our key customers include the Austrian State Railways and the Eisenbahn-Hochleistungsstrecken AG (HL-AG) as well as several regional railways and urban public transport bodies such as the Vienna Transport Authority (Wiener Linien), the Wiener Lokalbahn and the Salzburg Transport Authority (Salzburger Verkehrsbetriebe).
Business Scope
We focus on overhead contact line construction and fixed installation work:
- New electrification of line and stations
- Renewal of overhead contact line on existing track and in stations
- Erection of feeder stations Laying and jointing of communication cables
- Electrification and maintenance of mass transit regional lines, such as tram networks.
- Fitting of switch mechanisms
- Spare part delivery

- DC Substations
- Electrical pre-heat installations for trains
- Distribution points for rail users
- Low voltage distribution networks
